The historical renovation of the Belton Chalet, West Glacier, Montana, provided an interesting challenge to balance the contradictory requirements of current building codes and the National Historical Registry’s mandate to restore and preserve the original design elements of the period. The Great Northern Railway built this Swiss chalet hotel in 1910 to serve Glacier National Park.

The community’s enthusiastic approval of this design effort confirmed the successful accomplishment of our client’s goal of setting a new standard for future redevelopment projects within Bigfork, Montana’s tourist district. This new two story facility provides three to five leasable spaces with features such as elevator, street side balconies, street side art/dining courtyard and water feature.
